It's always my ambition to keep a book blog going, but I keep falling into a lake of everything but books.
 

I’m sure our ancestors will be glad to know that our family’s legendary streak of stupidity is still alive. It galloped through me yesterday.

I accidentally steam-burned the left side of my face (after talking to Anna who was in the doorway on my right, I turned my head and the steam thingy was closer than I expected). This morning I woke up, the skin was scarlet red, very tight, and there was a tiny patch of skin peeling. I went to my GP to make sure it was fine.

Turned out I have superficial burns. Just first-degree, thank goodness. The most affected area is, not surprisingly, the left cheek. Hurts like fecker. At the moment, half of my head is covered with a strip of dressing and a massive pad over the cheek. Not too dissimilar to this:

So embarrassing.

Will is pissed off, though. Didn’t find it funny at all. I think because he’s still in Budapest with no internet access to use Skype, he’s imagining it worse than it really is. Either way, we are calling a pro wallpaper stripper in to do the job instead. I’m half-relieved because I didn’t enjoy wall stripping at all yesterday.
