I just received a phone call that left me pretty speechless. Georgina is one of most sensible people I know. During a crisis, she’s usually the one who keeps her head cool while the rest of us run around like headless chickens. She does have one peculiar tendency: when she feels it, she really feels it.

Almost the ‘all or nothing’ kind. It’s a rare occurrence, though. Rare enough for me to forget her tendency. So I was totally unprepared when I received her phone call a few minutes ago.

SPOILER WARNING: the last Season 3(?) episode of Being Human, a British TV series.

ME: Hello.
G: Georgie here. (sobbing)
ME: (alarmed) What’s wrong?
G: (sobbing)
ME: Where are you? I’ll come over -
G: No no, am all right. (sobbing)
ME: Where are you?
G: (sobbing) Home. (sobbing)
ME: I’m putting shoes on. Hold on.
G: No no, stay where you are. (chokes)
ME: What happened?
G: Mitchell!
ME: (struggles to recall anyone named Mitchell)
G: Mitchell! So sad! (sobbing)
ME: (hesitates) Who’s Mitchell?
G: John Mitchell! (hic) Being Human. He xxxx! Oh god! (cries) I understand why George… but… (cries)
ME: Being Human?
G: Yes! Werewolf, vampire and ghost. Mitchell is a vampire.
ME: Right…
G: I’ve just finished watching t-the finale. (cries)
ME: He doesn’t xxxx?
G: No! (sniffles) Why did he have to be the one? Should have been Annie!
ME: Annie…?
G: A wet blanket of a ghost.
