I’m thinking there should be a law against fiction authors abusing misusing using ‘hiss’ as a dialogue tag.
“W-who do you think you are? Get away from me, you monster!” she hissed.
and
“Liar! Gabriel would never tell you anything!” she hissed.
and
‘Yellow!’ he hissed. ‘I goin’ to fix your business!’
and
“Juan,” she hissed, “I could stab thee to the heart!”
and
“Ride! The bog!” She hissed the words into his ear.
and
“Do you think I fell off a Christmas tree?” he hissed. “I know drama when I see it — and that’s drama!”
and
“Son of the big man that killed Nag,” she hissed, “stay still. I am not ready yet. Wait a little. Keep very still, all you three! If you move I strike, and if you do not move I strike. Oh, foolish people, who killed my Nag!”
