The mites, Anna and I went to the Sea Life London Aquarium. The mites loved it!

They were so amazed and engrossed with all these fishes and other sea life swimming all around them. I admit I was the same as it was my first visit to a proper aquarium (I only saw the ones in pet shops when I dared to enter one, I’m not keen on pet shops because seeing those rabbits and other domestic pets in cages can be so upsetting). Being in a glass tunnel with all these sea creatures swimming and floating in water above your head was an amazing experience. Almost dream-like.

On the way home they chatted about what they saw. As soon as we got in, they ran to the playroom and drew colourful blots and circles, which are supposed to be fishes. Heh.

They were so exhausted from being high on the excitement of the day that they fell asleep the instant their heads hit pillows. Entrance tickets were expensive (approx. £15 per adult x 2; £8 for oldest mite, free for youngest mite), but it’s totally worth seeing mites’ enjoyment and amazement.

Oh, and we ‘adopted’ a shark! Mites have decided to call it “Tamago” (I have no clue why they came up with that). o_0

Oldest mite wouldn’t let go of the certificate. He’s actually in bed still clutching the damn certificate (probably not by now). I tried to talk him into framing it for a wall in his room, but he wouldn’t listen. Heh. When I remember to pry it out of his grip, I’ll try to scan and upload it to here.

  1. I love aquariums! I’m so glad you enjoyed your day out.

  2. What a cute story! My 10 yo loves sea life, wants to be a marine biologist (if he doesn’t end up being a graphic artist–and I know I’m biased, but he’s a good artist, and an even better storyteller).
